Celebrating Dr. Giwo Rubianto Wiyogo’s Leadership and Dedication
Jakarta, September 3, 2019 – In a momentous occasion, Dr. Ir. Giwo Rubianto Wiyogo, M.Pd., was honored with a prestigious award. The accolade was bestowed upon him by Betsy McCallon, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the White Ribbon Alliance (WRA), during a gathering in Jakarta.
Dr. Giwo Rubianto had served as a member of the National Alliance Council (NAC) from 2016 to 2019 and concurrently held the esteemed position of Chairman of White Ribbon Alliance Indonesia (WRA Indonesia). This recognition was a highlight of the annual NAC Meeting, a significant event in the WRA calendar.
The National Alliance Council (NAC) is an integral component of the WRA organization, and Dr. Giwo Rubianto’s contributions during his three-year tenure as a member were lauded for their positive impact on the organization’s growth and its transformative initiatives within society.
The NAC Meeting, spanning two days, attracted an illustrious assembly of key figures, including Betsy McCallon (CEO of WRA), Caroline Maposhere (WRA Zimbabwe), Dr. Jotham Musinguzi (WRA Uganda), Dr. Amanullah Khan (WRA Pakistan), Stephanie Bowen (White Ribbon Alliance Global Secretariat), and two incoming NAC members, Dr. Aparajita Gogoi (WRA India) and Sunil Shresta (WRA Nepal).
During this conclave, Dr. Amanullah Khan (WRA Pakistan) was duly elected as the new Chairman of NAC, succeeding Dr. Nanna Chidi (WRA Nigeria), who had admirably steered the NAC ship during the 2016-2019 period.
Notably, the meeting also charted the course for the upcoming WRA International Alliance Conference, scheduled for April 2020 in Surabaya, East Java. Pita Putih Indonesia (PPI) had been entrusted with the prestigious responsibility of hosting this momentous event. The unwavering support of East Java’s Governor, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, was secured for the conference. It is poised to draw participation from 500 attendees, including national and international representatives from 14 WRA member countries, all united by a common vision—to curtail maternal and newborn mortality rates while elevating the quality of maternal and child health and safety.
White Ribbon Alliance (WRA), an international coalition, is bound by a shared mission: ensuring safe pregnancies and childbirths for women and newborns across the globe.
